Commuting home on the bus

Arrived in Tokyo at 3. The flight went by faster than I expected. I was welcomed with the lovely humidity of Tokyo when I stepped off of the plane. I was in Atlanta a week ago and it was equally as hot/humid. I can't wait to see my kids!!!!!!

9:05 p.m. Minami Chitose Train Station

I am waiting for the train that will take me to my final destination. Honestly it feels like coming home because I used to take this train quite a bit when I lived here. Hard to believe it has been 7 years since I left Japan to move to Seattle!!!

We went to Shikaribetsu Lake yesterday with the kids, our parents in law and my wife's grandmother. This is the place my wife and I had our first date back on 11/3/99. It was pretty cool to return with our kids. We spent the night at hotel along the lake that hd a great Onsen (hot spring) for bathing. Our daughter Aika decided she wanted to stay awake a little bit longer and rolled around on floor.

Today was pretty quiet. We didn't have any specific plans. I took both kids for a walk which as nice. At night we all went to Hewa En ... A Japanese style BBQ restaurant where you cook your own food. I cooked up some beef and lamb and it was all good!!!!!!!!

We had an official family picture taken today. We used the same photographer that took our engagement photos back in 1999.

8/1

We took a trip to Ashoro today with the kids. Ashoro is where I lived for 2 years and where I met my wife. We met with old friends from the Board of Education and City Hall. No one seemed to have changed even though everyone said I had ... No comment :).

Today was felt like I was back in Seattle with the cloudy weather and rain. That didn't stop us from heading out for some shopping. I was able to visit my favorite electronic store "Hyuakuman Boruto" - aka 1,000,000 Volts, and check out some of the latest gadgets. All I have to say is that we are very far behind in the US. At night we settled in for a relaxing evening eating Shabu Shabu.

The kids slept in a little so we started the day later in the morning. We visiting my wife's grandmother for the last time in the afternoon. Unfortunately my daughter was running a little fever so we had to come home early. We were treated to nice fireworks show from the local town which we watched frm the comfort of our patio.

We started packing for the trip home today. My stuff was pretty easy but we also had to think about al of the kid's stuff. Of course we didn't finish but we needed to start early with the free time that we had. I am looking foward to returning home but I know tis trip with the twins will be very challenging for me. My wife and parents in law flew with them to Japan but now it is my turn. I will survive I am sure but I know I will tested the entire way.

In 31 degree celius weather I decided to mow my parent's in law's yard. 90 minutes later I was covered in sweat and blades of grass ... A cool shower never felt better. The kids were doing pretty good for the most part. We went out to run some errands and all was well. After returning home they started to get a little grumpy. We managed to get them to sleep and all is well. I am looking forward to getting back to Seattle. This was an awesome vacation but is is always good to return home!!!

We are doing sme last minute packing before heading to the airport. It is going to be a long day!!!!!!!!!
